In the year 376 the Huns attacked the Visigoths and ran them south so they had to cross the Danube River and joined the Roman Empire. The Visigoths were not treated well in Rome, some thought they would have been better off fending for themselves as the Huns attacked. The Romans taxed the Visigoths on everything they could even on rotten, diseased dog carcasses.

The Visigoths had a war with Rome and destroyed there Empire but didn’t have very much land to classify as there’s. During the next 50 years they Visigoths searched for land. It wasn’t until 415, Ataulphus guided the Visigoths to southern Gaul, and then to Spain.

The Visigoths were agriculturists. They spent hours a day working to make their livestock and crops healthy, they also were big fishermen and fished along the coasts of Spain. In 507 the the Visigoths were battling the Franks for Gaul exept for the Septimania, a costal section of land. They lost the battle and lost all of Gaul. Then in 711 the Muslims took out the rest of what they had.

In 418 A.D, the Visigoths established a kingdom within the crumbling Roman empire. They conquered lots of south-west France, called Aquitaine. This Part of the area was fertile and deeply settled by the Romans. At first, they were just acting as representatives for the Roman empire. As time past the Roman empire weakend and the Visigoths started to act more on there own. When the vandals left in 429 A.D the visigoths started to take over france. Around the time of 509 A.D disaster struck there empire. The Franks who had took over northern France were now pushing into sothern france. One of the reasons that the Visigoths and Franks did not get along was due to the fact that the Visigoths were Arian christians and the Franks were catholics.

After the battle beetween the Visigoths and Franks the Franks came out victorious. They also killed the Visigoths king. A while after the Visigoths moved into Spain.

The Visigoths left Italy and went into the southern part of Gaul and northern Spain in 412 AD to increase their territories. They succeeded in increasing their territories in Spain, which was occupied by the Vandals at that time. The height of the Visigoths power was during the years 466 - 484, in which they completed the conquest of Spain. The Visigothic history became essentially that of Spain. The Visigothic kingdom was weakened by warfare for quite some time, but regained strength in the late sixth century. The overtaking of Spain meant that romans would have to follow Visigothic law, and that didn't go over too well. Thus, the power of the Kingdom was lessened. There was civil upset, and the kingdom was attacked by Muslims. The Visigothic kingdom ended in 711 A.D, and This became the start of the Moorish Period.
